Gorakh Bodh is an ancient Hindi scripture of the Nath Yogis, written as a profound dialogue between the renowned Indian siddha Gorakhnath and his immortal Guru, Matsyendranath. To preserve the secrecy of their yogic practices, the Nath Yogis used a symbolic and coded language that could only be understood by initiated disciples. The twilight language (Sandhya Bhasha) of Gorakh Bodh—also known as the upward-downward (urdhva-adho mukha) language—employs metaphors and hidden expressions that conceal deep esoteric truths within seemingly simple verses.

At first glance, its subject matter appears obscure and elusive. Its poetic lines, written in ancient, uncommon, folk-style Hindi, describe subtle concepts such as the void of consciousness, the creation of the universe, the eternal sound, life-force and breath, the origin of the soul, the inner and outer void, the perception of time, and the timeless existence of the Self beyond time.

In Gorakh Bodh – The Twilight Language of Immortal Yogis, Yogiraj Shailendra Sharma, the fifth Guru in the Babaji tradition, illuminates the original text through a yogic perspective. He unveils its deeper mysteries and interprets the hidden Nath teachings in accordance with the Kriya Yoga tradition. With refined translations of the original Hindi verses, this comprehensive yogic commentary offers a serious and profound explanation of higher yoga and the mysticism behind its true purpose.

This book is more of a blessing for kriya practitioners. Would require periodic revisitation & regular practice to be able to incrementally absorb its content. A fascinating account of the author’s realization of the mystical inner journey from a yogic perspective (in elaboration of an obscure, ancient text).
